Social Worker - Fostering & Kinship Support Team

About the role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join a Fostering Kinship Support Team in Merseyside. This part-time role (27 hours per week) involves supervising and supporting a caseload of kinship foster carers, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with fostering regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide regular supervision and support to kinship foster carers.
• Complete annual reviews and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments.
• Identify and coordinate training needs for carers.
• Work collaboratively with children’s social workers and partner agencies to ensure cohesive care planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory requirements.
• Engage proactively with applicants and approved carers to promote positive outcomes for children.
• Travel to support carers who may reside outside the Wirral borough.

Skills required: 

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience working with kinship carers and understanding of their unique needs.
• Strong understanding of fostering regulations, SGO processes, and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to promoting the welfare of children and supporting carers effectively.

What you need:

• A degree in Social Work or equivalent
• Registered with  Social Work England
• At least 3 years PQE permanent, direct employment within English LA
• Completed relevant post-qualifying training
• Enhanced DBS check
• Excellent communication and written skills
