Pay Rates:
  • PAYE: £30.50 per hour
  • Umbrella: £37.54 per hour

About the RoleNetwork Recruitment Wales is recruiting a Qualified Social Worker (Grade I) to join Carmarthenshire County Council’s Children’s Services on a 12-week temporary basis. This role has arisen to cover a vacancy due to secondment and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to safeguarding and supporting children and families within a well-established local authority team.
S47 (Section 47) training is required for this role.

What You’ll Do
  • Undertake statutory social work duties in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act.
  • Complete high-quality assessments, care planning, and interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring timely decision-making and accurate record keeping.
  • Prepare reports and attend relevant meetings, including child protection conferences and court proceedings when required.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, policies, and best practice standards.

What We’re Looking For
  • A qualified Social Worker with a recognised professional qualification (Diploma in Social Work, BA/BSc/MA in Social Work, or CQSW).
  • Registration with Social Care Wales (or equivalent UK registration).
  • S47 training (essential).
  • Strong assessment, report-writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience working within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

Essential Requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Criminal Convictions Declaration.
  • Professional qualification in Social Work (essential).
  • CV and proof of qualifications.
  • Photo ID.
  • Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Health Declaration/Questionnaire.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work history/references.
