Job Description
An alternative provision in South Birmingham is seeking a committed and engaging Science Teacher to teach small classes of students who have faced barriers to mainstream education. This is an excellent opportunity for a Science Teacher who enjoys working in a supportive, relationship-led environment where teaching can be truly impactful.
The school is led by an outstanding Headteacher and benefits from a highly supportive staff team who work collaboratively to ensure students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn. Classes are small, well supported, and allow you to focus on re-engaging learners and building confidence through science.
Job Role:
- Teaching Science to small classes of secondary-aged students
- Planning and delivering engaging, accessible science lessons
- Adapting teaching to meet a range of learning and SEMH needs
- Managing behaviour calmly and consistently within clear structures
- Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff
- Supporting students to develop confidence and interest in science
- Tracking progress and celebrating achievement
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Strong subject knowledge in Science
- Experience teaching students with additional needs or in alternative provision (desirable
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A patient, resilient and flexible approach
- Support from an outstanding Headteacher
