Job Description
Are you a passionate and nurturing Primary Teacher looking to take your skills into a specialist setting? This secondary SEND school in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Class Teacher to deliver a primary-style curriculum to secondary-aged students with Autism, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), communication impairments, and some complex needs. The school has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is incredibly well-resourced, providing the perfect environment to make a lasting impact on students who thrive with structure, patience, and creativity.
This is an ideal opportunity for a QTS-qualified Primary Teacher who is either experienced in, or open to, working in a SEND environment. You will be supported by a knowledgeable leadership team and a team of experienced Teaching Assistants. The school places strong emphasis on collaborative planning, pastoral care, and creating a calm, nurturing learning environment. Prior experience in a special school is desirable, but not essential — the right attitude, flexibility, and commitment to inclusive education are what really matter. This role is not suitable for an ECT and requires QTS.
Job Role:
- Delivering a primary-style curriculum to secondary-aged students with additional needs
- Creating structured and engaging lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
- Leading a small, supported class with help from experienced Teaching Assistants
- Building strong relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Promoting emotional regulation, independence, and progress across all subjects
- A well-resourced school with a calm and positive ethos
- Supportive leadership and professional development opportunities
- Opportunities to grow your SEND teaching experience
- The chance to make a genuine difference every day
- Competitive pay, based on experience and qualifications
