Job Purpose:
As the Laboratory Team Leader, you will oversee the operations of our site laboratories in Hull. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of laboratory processes, supporting our commitment to excellence in food production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and legislative requirements.
- Manage the Quality Control Laboratory operations and contribute to maintaining the HACCP system.
- Oversee sampling, testing procedures, and interpretation of results, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with management to address product quality issues and propose improvement strategies.
- Assist in the operation of the Effluent Treatment Plant as required.
- Implement and maintain ISO 9001:2015 and BRCGS standards in the laboratory.
- Generate quality reports and manage laboratory documentation effectively.
- Maintain, calibrate, and manage stock of laboratory equipment and consumables.
- Coordinate laboratory shift schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage.
- Manage MYRRS database and coordinate external analysis of raw materials and finished products.
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP systems.
- Experience in quality control and assurance within manufacturing environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in IT tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
- Proven leadership ability, motivating teams towards operational excellence.
- BSc in Microbiology or related field (desirable).
- Experience in laboratory supervision, preferably in food manufacturing or related industries.
- Knowledge of analytical and microbiological analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and environmental awareness.
