Job Description
Focusing on the ICA design discipline the role will provide the expertise needed to: -
- Get the right technical requirements in the Project Technical Briefs.
- Ensure and deliver the Engineering Regulatory compliance on relevant assets in the ICA area.
- Produce ICA designs as appropriate and review the work of others.
- Supervise EDP works and review compliance of deliverables against Thames Water standards and industry best practices.
- Drive the advancement of the ICA Engineering discipline within Thames and input to Technical Asset Standards.
What you’ll be doing as a Principal ICA Engineer
- Provide technical input into Project Definition Briefs.
- Undertake ICA design work to include scope narratives, system architecture drawings, process narratives, instrument and I/O lists.
- Ensure we are compliant with engineering-based regulatory requirements in their area.
- Provide technical assistance in the planning and design replacement of Thames Water’s £300M AMP-8 ICA Obsolescence upgrade programme.
- Provide the technical sign-off and assurance during technical delivery, including handover.
Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB.
Working hours: 36 hours a week, a minimum of every Wednesday, with visits to our operational sites when required.
What you should bring to the role
- A recognised control and instrument technical leader with a significant number of years of ICA experience. Significant experience in ICA design, including data networks and Safety Instrument Systems and with familiarity with the water industry or utilities with equivalent technical solutions.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate and ability to influence senior colleagues.
- Degree level or equivalent in their Engineering Discipline and professional chartership preferred.
