An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Remote Operations Shift Manager to join a global leader in gas engineering and distribution. Based at their Remote Operations Centre in Rotherham, this role supports the real-time optimisation of production assets across multiple international sites.
Operating from a 24/7 control room environment, you will use HMI/SCADA systems (including Siemens PCS7) to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of industrial gas production facilities, including Air Separation Units (ASU), HYCO, and CO₂ plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the safe, efficient operation of production plants on a 24-hour basis
- Interface with sites and product supply teams to meet customer demand while minimising business costs
- Support remote plant start-ups, shut-downs, and emergency response scenarios
- Monitor and manage plant alarms, investigate performance issues, and track KPIs
- Conduct efficiency evaluations to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements
- Produce monthly performance reports and support continual improvement initiatives
- Assist with the onboarding and training of new sites into the control system
- Minimum HNC in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Chemical Process discipline
- Significant experience in control room operations within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Pharmaceutical environments
- Familiarity with fractional distillation, high-pressure transfer schemes, and pipeline operations
- Experience with process interfaces such as SCADA/HMI systems, ideally Siemens PCS7
- Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, process schematics, and PFDs
- Experience with plant commissioning is advantageous
- High level of personal integrity and a collaborative approach to working within a control room team
- Engineering degree preferred but not essential with equivalent practical experience
