Programme Officer
International Membership Organisation | Central London | £22.21 per hour (PAYE)
36 hours per week | Monday – Friday | Hybrid (2–3 days office-based) | 6-Month Contract

We’re delighted to be working with a prominent international membership organisation to recruit a Programme Officer to support the work of the Environmental Directorate. Based in Central London, this is a full-time temporary role for an initial period of 6 months, offering hybrid working (2–3 days in the office) and a competitive hourly rate of £22.21 (PAYE).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual with demonstrable experience in high-level administrative and programme support, ideally within an international or governmental setting. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, facilitate strategic projects, and ensure the smooth coordination of communications, meetings, and operational logistics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Support & Coordination - Prepare and coordinate briefings and reports for senior leadership.
  • Support the implementation of projects, including logistics, meeting support, and documentation.
  • Draft and manage internal and external communications for the Directorate.
  • Coordinate responses to member government assistance requests.
  • Represent the Directorate at meetings and act as a central point of contact.
  • Administrative Oversight - Oversee submissions including consultant contracts, purchase orders, travel forms, and other key documentation.
  • Maintain accurate communication with ministries, partner organisations, and stakeholders across member countries.
  • Provide guidance to the Admin Support Team on travel, planning, and procedural matters.
  • Manage confidential records and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the Directorate.
  • Executive Support - Provide comprehensive support to the Director, including diary management, meeting briefs, and travel arrangements.
  • Proofread and format correspondence, ensuring high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Organise key activities and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

Essential Experience & Skills
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior administrative or programme support role, ideally within an international or governmental organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and management information systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using internal systems (e.g. FMIS).
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, with excellent interpersonal and teamworking abilities.

Desirable Attributes
  • Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
