Vertical Borer Machinist

Annual Salary: £32,000 to £34,000
Weekly Hours: 6am to 2pm/11am to 7.30pm - Monday to Friday

Purpose of the Role/Role Overview:
Required to set up and operate a horizontal boring machine, milling, drilling, and boring one-off or small batch quantities of steel fabrications or castings to very close tolerances.

General Duties/Key Responsibilities:

• Read and understand 1st and 3rd angle engineering drawings and have the ability to mark out/machine components from them.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using relevant measuring instruments.
• Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical and horizontal borers.
• Where relevant, program/operate NC/CNC machines tools.
• Properly and safely select, align, secure and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
• Recognise, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling.
• Examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using appropriate tooling.
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
• Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
• Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
